Gravity Spark was founded in direct response to the mass migration of citizens to the Stanton system following the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo of 2951. Poverty increased, crime skyrocketed, and the founders saw a solution:
Training new citizens to fight the growing violence - providing a safe refuge for new citizens to learn and profit - while growing a reputable paramilitary organization.​

While Gravity Spark has undergone multiple reorganizations, its current form is that of a private corporation. A board of executives provide oversight and make decisions that affect Gravity Spark's future, or that of its members.
